Jonathan Ferziger is a non-resident senior fellow in the Atlantic Council's Middle East programs and lives in Jerusalem. He is an award-winning American journalist whose reporting career has taken him to postings in Washington, Tel Aviv, Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia. For 20 years, Ferziger was chief political reporter for Bloomberg News on Israeli and Palestinian affairs. Earlier he worked for United Press International, covering the 1991 Gulf War in Saudi Arabia, moving to Israel as Jerusalem Bureau Chief and serving as Asia Regional Editor in Hong Kong. Ferziger graduated from Binghamton University and received a masters from Columbia Journalism School. He was awarded a Nieman Fellowship at Harvard University in 1995 and won the 2017 Robert St. John Prize in Objective Middle East Reporting from Israel’s Ben Gurion University. He is married to the journalist Miriam Herschlag and they have two grown children.
